Judicial Roundtable: The Hendricks County Bar Association will host a Judicial Roundtable with several of the Hendricks County Judges to discuss numerous issues impacting the practice of law in Hendricks County. The Judicial Roundtable will be held at Franks Place in Danville, Tuesday, March 22, 2011, from 11:45-1:00. Any questions for the panel should be submitted to bar President, Fred Cline, no later than Friday, March 17.
Domestic Violence Training: The issue of domestic violence has the potential to impact every legal practice area. On Thursday, May 5, 2011, the Hendricks County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence will presenting a FREE domestic violence training seminar which will qualify for 3.0 CLE. The training will be focused on issues that attorneys face when dealing both with potential victims and potential abusers. This will be an event you will not want to miss. The event will be held at the Hendricks County Work Release Center from 8:30-12:00.
Charlie Asher: At it's May 13, 2011, monthly meeting, the Hendricks County Bar Association has the privilege of hosting special speaker Charlie Asher. Mr. Asher is an attorney and founder of the www.UpToParents.org and www.ProudToParent.org website programs. Mr. Asher will discuss some of the challenges that are presented in family law cases involving children and some of the ways for those involved in the family law system to help parents address those challenges. The meeting will begin at noon at Franks Place in Danville.
Indianapolis Indians Baseball: Nothing signifies summer more than a good baseball game! The Hendricks County Bar Association will be holding its annual Indianapolis Indians outing on June 25, 2011. Plan on bringing your family and friends. More details and ticket information will be posted as the event approaches.
Chateau Thomas Winery's "Music on the Veranda": Enjoy good wine, good music, and good conversation with your Hendricks County Bar Association colleagues on September 9, 2011, in Plainfield at the Chateau Thomas Winery's "Music on the Veranda." Stay tuned for more information.
HCBA Annual Christmas Party: On December 9, 2011, the HCBA will have its annual Christmas party. Please mark your calendars now to attend! More details will follow as the event approaches.
Ask a Lawyer Day: Have a legal question? Come and ask members of the Hendricks County Bar Association at a local library for free. Attorneys from the Hendricks County Bar Association volunteer their time to sit down and answer your basic legal questions. Patrons are assisted on a first-come first-serve basis. The Bar Association sponsors this free program annually on Martin Luther King Day at Brownsburg and Plainfield Libraries.
Hendricks County Bar Association Scholarships: The Hendricks County Bar Association offers three $500 scholarships annually. To be eligible you must be a senior graduating from a Hendricks County High School. An interest in pursuing the law is not required. Applications may be obtained at the High Schools’ various Guidance Offices. The following is the criteria considered by the Scholarship committee: grade point average (and types of classes taken), financial need, community involvement and extracurricular activities.
